School Wide Learning Expectations

 Upon completion of the required awareness and familiarity, Dominican Child Development Center realizes its graduates to be:


P – Prayer-oriented individuals who:

  • Demonstrate an appreciation for God in his/her life
  • Makes good moral choices that reflect Gospel values
  • Have a knowledge of the Catholic faith – its teaching, history, and tradition

I – Integrated individuals who: 

  • Are stewards with the knowledge of self, which leads to the realization of one’s God-given talents

 Admission


Admission is open to all until capacity enrollment is reached. 


In as much as Dominican Child Development Center is maintained and operated only through tuition and fees, parents or guardians of children applying for admission must be able to meet their financial obligation.

Requirements for all grade levels:

a. Birth Certificate

b. Baptismal Certificate if baptized Catholic

c. Updated shot-record

d. Medical Clearance duly accomplished (forms are available at office.)


  

Age requirement:

Kindergarten: Must be five (5) years old by November 30 of the current year.

Pre-Kindergarten: Must be four (4) years old by November 30 of the current year.

Junior Nursery: Must be three (3) years old by November 30 of the current year.

Nursery: Must be 18 months old at time of registration.


Attendance 

- Regular and punctual attendance is required of every school child. 

- A Pre-Kinder/Kindergarten child is allowed to miss no more than ten days per semester.

Absences

A written excuse from the parent or guardian of the child is required when a pupil has been absent.

Excessive absences will be referred to the School Principal.

Tardiness

A student is tardy if he/she arrives after nine (9:00) a.m.

A written excuse is required for tardiness and should be presented not later than the session following the one in which the tardiness occurred.

Schedule:


7:00 A.M ­­­– 5:30 P.M.


A child may be dropped in school by 7:00 A.M. 


A fee of five ($5.00) dollars will be charged every 5 minutes if a child is picked up after 5:30 P.M. 

Payment is due upon pick up.  


The fee should be paid directly to the teacher/aide who is babysitting at that time.



Early Dismissal


A written request from the parent/guardian must be submitted if a child is to leave school before time of dismissal, except in cases of illness or similar emergency, in which case he/she will be accompanied by an adult. The parent will be notified immediately by telephone.



Smoking


NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED AT ANY TIME INSIDE THE SCHOOL BUILDING.

Illness

If a child becomes ill during school hours, the parent will be contacted immediately and be asked to take the child home.


First Aid

First aid will be provided at the School for minor injuries (cuts, scratches, bruises, etc.) requiring immediate action. No medication for headaches or other discomforts will be administered to a child unless consented to, in writing, by parents or guardians.


Change of Address or Telephone

A written notification of change of address or telephone number must be sent to the Office as soon as the information is available. Telephone numbers of additional persons who may be called in an emergency must be up-to-date.


Bulletin/Letter from the Office

School messages will be sent in the lunch kits of Nursery to Pre-Kindergarten pupils. However, said messages will be entrusted to the Kindergarten pupils themselves.


Report Cards

The academic period is comprised of four quarters. A report card evaluating the progress in each subject area as well as spiritual, social an emotional development is issued to every Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten students at the end of the quarter. Report cards should be signed by the parents.


Typhoons

Should the island be placed in Typhoon Condition 2(COR-2), parents should not send their children to school.

Parents should depend on public media for announcements concerning resumption of school after a typhoon.

Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten, and Junior Nursery pupils wear uniforms. 


The girls’ uniform consists of:

- Navy blue jumper

- White short-sleeved blouse

- DCDC emblem sewn on the left side of the jumper

- Black shoes and white socks

The boys’ uniform consists of:

- Dark blue trousers

- White short-sleeved shirt

- DCDC emblem sewn on the left-hand pocket of the shirt

- Black shoes and white socks


Hair Grooming

Boys' and girl’s hair must always be combed and kept neat. Boys hair must not touch the collar of the shirt, while the girl’s front hair (bangs) must not cover the eyes.


Children with lice/nits will not be accepted in class until hair is checked “clean” by the school personnel.

Tuition


Tuition is payable in full upon registration or in monthly installments. On an installment basis, the first payment is due upon registration. The next payment will resume in September of the current school year.


Subsequent installments must be paid no later than the 7th of each month ending in May of the school year. A grace period, which is under the 12th of the month is allowed before a $10.00 late payment fine is charged.


A $50.00 fee will be added to one’s account if his/her check bounces. After two (2) returned checks, we will only accept money orders or cash payments for your tuition account. 


No deduction from tuition will be made for school days missed because of the pupil’s absence.


School days falling on holidays observed by the school will not be made up, discontinued, or refunded.


For withdrawal made during the first week after registration, 50% of tuition paid will be refunded

For withdrawal made during the second week after registration, 20% of tuition paid will be refunded.


NO REFUND of tuition paid AFTER THE SECOND WEEK of registration.

Pupils with delinquent accounts or who have been absent for two consecutive weeks without excuse may be deleted from the enrollment list.

Written notification must be made in advance of any plan to discontinue school in order to have the name deleted from the list thus avoiding extra changes.


Only upon payment of tuition, registration, and other fees, shall a child be considered enrolled.


Financial Obligations:


Registration and Instructional FeesThe Registration and Instructional Fees are charged per child each school year. Both fees are paid at the time of registration and non-refundable.
